Quick Overview

Ketanov (Ketorolacum) Tablets 10 mg №100

Ketanov is a NSAID, derivative of pyrrolizine-carboxylic acid. This medication has a marked analgesic effect, also has anti-inflammatory and mild antipyretic action. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of COX activity - the main enzyme metabolism of arachidonic acid, a precursor of prostaglandins, which play a major role in the pathogenesis of inflammation, pain and fever. Ketanov works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation. The primary mechanism of action responsible for Ketorolac's anti-inflammatory/antipyretic/analgesic effects is the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by competitive blocking of the the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX). Like most NSAIDs, Ketanov is a non-selective cyclooxygenase inhibitor. Ketorlac is used orally and as injectable form for short term (3-5 days) relief of moderately severe pain. It is also used as eye drops to prevent and treat pain and swelling in the eye after eye surgery.
